Rules and Regulations

Teams

• Each entrepreneur can have a team comprised of up to 4 students. More than 4 students can be involved in the preparation of the business plan but only 4 can be registered as official entrants to the competition.
• All official entrants must be attending school on either a full or part-time basis. All faculties may enter.
• Teams must register for the competition by filling out the ‘intent to enter’ form
• Teams can call upon any advice they may require in the creation of their plan, but must present their plan in the Final Competition using only members of their registered team.
• All aspects of the final business plan must embody original work of the members of the team
• Teams must select a faculty advisor from their university to validate their “intent to enter form” but they are not, however, required to partake in the competition. It is recommended that teams utilize their faculty advisor for guidance when putting their business plans together. Faculty advisors many not assist in the physical writing of the business plan or construction of the oral presentation.
• Business plans that have generated revenues prior to the final round competition date, are excluded from the competition.

Competition Structure

• The presentations must be in English.
• Each presentation team will be allocated a slot of 20 minutes, followed immediately by a 10 minute question and answer period.
• A copy of the presentation and all written material (if any) must be provided to the organizers 48 hours before the presentation time.
• Presentations may not run any longer than the allotted time. Once the 20 minute mark has been reached, teams will be asked to stop their presentation.
• Teams must be ready to present 30 minutes prior to their scheduled presentation time in order to login into the competition network and allow for technical tests.

Organizing Committee

• Due to the proprietary material presented in the competition, the TBIE 2010 Organizing Committee/ Judging Panel is committed to upholding the standards of the Privacy Legislation of British Columbia while reviewing all submitted business plans.
• Only the organizing committee, business professional guests, and registered competition judges will have the chance to review your business plan.
• Copies of the plans will never be given to, or copied by, anyone other than the Privacy Protection Committee of SIFE Thompson Rivers University.
